Alvin Darden III '72 awarded the Joseph R. Biden President's Lifetime Achievement Award

In a ceremony at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, beloved educator and retired Morehouse College administrator Alvin Darden III '72 was recently awarded the Joseph R. Biden President's Lifetime Achievement Award for his exemplary career of service to others and his contributions to building and strengthening the Atlanta community.


Dean Darden received the Lifetime Achievement Award, along with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award medal. 

The awards are presented on behalf of the Points of Light, AmeriCorps, Joseph R. Biden Jr., the 46th President of the United States, and Vice President Kamala Harris to those who made community service their mantra. 

Established by executive order by former U. S. President George W. Bush, the prestigious honor has been awarded to a select few Americans to recognize more than 4,000 hours of extraordinary community service per year.

In a career that spanned three decades, Dean Darden served in various capacities at Morehouse College wherein he mentored, advised and guided tens and tens of thousands of students and molded countless leaders who have made and are making outstanding contributions locally, regionally, nationally and worldwide.
