Athletic Director Harold Ellis ‘92 Represents Morehouse at the Advancing Blacks and Sports (ABIS) Champions and Legends event

Morehouse College, one of the top colleges in Atlanta, was pleased to attend the Advancing Blacks and Sports (ABIS) Champions and Legends event, in National Harbor, MD. Presented by JP Morgan Chase & Co, this organization honored trailblazers in the areas of Sports, Business, Civil Rights and Education. A highlight of the weekend was a Fireside Chat with U.S. Congressman James Clyburn.

Athletic Director Harold Ellis ‘92, was excited to reconnect with former NBA colleagues, Sports Executives, fellow College Coaches, Athletic Directors and students. Ellis was a standout Morehouse College guard, who went on to an acclaimed basketball career and a wealth of coaching and management experience at the professional league level. As the only Morehouse athlete to have his jersey number retired after a collegiate basketball career averaging more than 24 points per game in four years and leading Morehouse to the 1989-90 NCAA Division II Final Four.

ABIS is making a tremendous impact by empowering students athletes through increased financial literacy, diverse career pathways and mental wellness. A.D. Ellis’ lived experience as a student athlete, professional sports league executive and mentor/coach, makes him uniquely positioned to maximize opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
