The Morehouse College Ultimate Club recently made history as the first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) team and the second all-Black team ever to compete in the D-III Southeast Regional Championship.

The event, hosted by Berry College in Mount Berry, GA, saw the Morehouse team face off against some of the region’s most formidable competitors, including Berry College, Georgia College, Union University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Ave Maria University.

Despite being newcomers to the regional stage, the Morehouse College Ultimate Club demonstrated exceptional skill, resilience, and sportsmanship. Their efforts were rewarded with the prestigious "Spirit of the Game" Sportsmanship Award, a testament to their positive attitude, respect for opponents, and adherence to the values that make ultimate frisbee unique.

The team was represented by eight dedicated players, each bringing their unique talents and energy to the field:

The eight players who attended the tournament were Aaron McNair '26, Richard Chandler '25, Josh Everette '26, Brock Caston '27, Gary Addison Jr '26, Samir Kalam Id-Din, Jalen Furqan '26, and Ryan Norris '25.

The Morehouse College Ultimate Club’s journey to the D-III Southeast Regional Championship is more than a story of athletic success; it’s a narrative of breaking barriers, fostering community, and setting new standards. As they continue to grow and compete, they carry with them the pride of their institution and the spirit of those who paved the way before them.

Congratulations to the Morehouse College Ultimate Club for their groundbreaking achievement and for embodying the true spirit of the game!
