Recently, during the Atlanta Hawks’ Black History Month game, Morehouse College’s Cinema, Television, and Emerging Media Studies (CTEMS) program received a remarkable honor. Georgia Natural Gas (GNG) presented a $10,000 check to the program in recognition of its ongoing commitment to cultivating the next generation of Black creatives and cultural narrators. This generous contribution underscores the vital role that Black creators play in shaping the cultural landscape of Atlanta and beyond.

In addition to the donation, several CTEMS students and faculty members were gifted complimentary tickets to attend the game, providing them with a well-deserved evening of celebration and acknowledgment.

“At Georgia Natural Gas, we’re proud to celebrate the rich cultural history of community,” said Aimee Henderson, Director of Retail Mass Markets for Georgia Natural Gas. “Black creators play an essential role in the story of Atlanta. That’s why we are so thrilled with this opportunity to elevate so many amazing current artists and support the institutions that are empowering the next generation.”

Morehouse’s CTEMS program continues to shine on the national stage. In 2024, the program was ranked #42 on TheWrap’s list of the top 50 film schools in the United States—a recognition that speaks to the dedication of the department’s leadership, including Chair Dr. Stephane Dunn, the passionate faculty, and the tireless efforts of its students. This honor is a testament to CTEMS’s unwavering commitment to innovation, storytelling, and providing a transformative educational experience.

From producing groundbreaking content to elevating Black voices in media, CTEMS is a beacon of excellence in film, television, and emerging media. This generous support from Georgia Natural Gas not only reinforces the impact of the program but also fuels its mission to continue uplifting and inspiring the next generation of creatives.

As Morehouse College remains at the forefront of cultivating storytellers who shape the cultural fabric of our world, contributions like these ensure that our students have the resources to develop their craft, expand their opportunities, and continue telling the stories that matter.
