Morehouse College presented the 2024 Presidential Award of Distinction to Rodney Bullard, CEO of The Same House and former vice president of community affairs at Chick-fil-A, Inc. and former executive director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation.

Rodney Bullard is a man who is driven by a passion to serve.  Nurtured by parents who instilled in him the idea that service is at the core of leadership – and inspired by a childhood conversation with Morehouse College President Benjamin Elijah Mays, who encouraged him to get as much education and experience as he could so that he could give to others – Bullard has designed and lived his life as a continual act of service to the world.

After earning degrees in law and business from some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions of higher education, Bullard served the cause of justice as a member of the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps, Congressional Legislative Liaison, White House Fellow, and Assistant United States Attorney.

With a move to the corporate arena, Bullard served the cause of business ethics and accountability as Vice President of Global Corporate Social Responsibility at Chick-fil-A Inc. and Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation, which he helped create to advance the company’s philanthropic efforts.

In his current role as CEO of The Same House, a public benefit corporation he founded, Bullard serves the cause of social and economic good. He spearheads efforts to empower some of Atlanta’s most under-served neighborhoods through programs focused on education, employment, and entrepreneurship and leads the Beloved Benefit, an annual fund raiser that in 2023 generated $8.8 million and supported eight local organizations.

In his best-selling book, “Heroes Wanted: Why the World Needs You to Live Your Heart Out,” Bullard inspires readers to adopt simple but powerful ways they, too, can make a positive impact on others and establish a legacy of service.

Because Rodney Bullard is an outstanding exemplar of leadership and service – and because of his generous commitment of time, talent and treasure to Morehouse College, the alma mater of his father, James W. Bullard ’65 – he was bestowed the Presidential Award of Distinction at the 2024 Founder's Day Convocation.
