November 25, 2025Written by: Morehouse College
The 2025 BE Smart HBCU Hackathon once again proved why it is considered one of the premier stages for emerging Black tech talent. This year’s competition brought together 62 teams from historically Black colleges and universities, all striving to turn bold ideas into innovative solutions for real-world challenges. Morehouse College stood out among the finalists, earning an impressive third-place finish and demonstrating the collaboration, rapid problem-solving, adaptability, and strong communication skills that the Hackathon is known for showcasing.

Representing Morehouse College, Team HackHouse captured third place with an app that could not be more timely: Launchpad, a platform designed to connect students with careers in technology. The concept resonated with judges and sponsors, aligning with the Hackathon’s mission to expand access to tech internships and long-term career pathways for HBCU students.
Over the course of an intense 24 hours, the four-member team built, tested, and pitched their solution, demonstrating both technical skill and user-centered design. Their success reflects the strength of Morehouse’s pipeline of student innovators who are eager to shape the future of technology.
For ten years, the BE Smart Hackathon has been shaping the future of tech by empowering the next generation of innovators from HBCUs. The 2025 event raised the bar once again, showcasing excellence, creativity, and the undeniable talent rising from these institutions.
