Christopher Knight Jr. ’27 Expands Cookie Chris Empire with Third Bakery Opening
July 30, 2025Written by: Morehouse College
At just 20 years old, Christopher Knight Jr., a rising junior at Morehouse College, is already proving what it means to be a visionary and a doer. The entrepreneur recently opened the third location of his booming bakery business, Cookie Chris, earlier this month—marking a major milestone in a journey that started in his own kitchen.
Knight, a graduate of Warhill High School in Williamsburg, Virginia, began selling homemade cookies at the age of 16. What started as weekend deliveries and hallway sales has grown into a full-fledged enterprise with three brick-and-mortar bakeshops: the first in his hometown of Williamsburg and two more in the Richmond area.
“I enjoy myself these days,” said Knight. “It’s really not work. I like the cookie business. I like to make people smile.”
The business, still rooted in family values, employs 4–5 people at each location, with Knight’s parents, Fran and Chris Sr., stepping in to help when needed. Even while pursuing his degree at Morehouse—where he's on a pre-law track majoring in philosophy—Knight remains hands-on with operations. He spends his summers managing the stores and keeps close tabs on the business year-round.
Knight’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose—hallmarks of the Morehouse spirit. His ability to balance academics with entrepreneurship is a testament to the power of hard work and vision.
