CodeHouse Scholars Successfully Complete Summer Bridge Program - Cohort 4
August 5, 2024Written by: Morehouse College
CodeHouse, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between students of color and leading tech companies, recently celebrated the successful completion of its Summer Bridge Program for Cohort 4. With a mission to address the diversity gap in the technology sector, CodeHouse provides essential exposure and resources to enhance students' technical skills, promote job placement, and elevate the next generation of diverse leaders in technology.
The founders of CodeHouse, Ernest Holmes '19 and Tavis Thompson '20, are both proud graduates of Morehouse College. As a Computer Science graduate, Ernest Holmes founded CodeHouse to offer mentorship from professionals of color to high school and college students of color. Tavis Thompson, who serves as the Director of Mentorship and Co-Founder, shares this vision and commitment to empowering students through meaningful mentorship and support.
The College extends its gratitude to the CodeHouse partners who have financially invested in this year's cohort, ensuring the sustainability of this impactful program. Their contributions have enabled CodeHouse to host a series of workshops and office tours throughout the summer, providing invaluable experiences for our scholars.
A special shoutout goes to the partners who joined the cohort at the Opening Ceremony in Atlanta. Google's generous hosting of the event was a highlight, and their physical presence, alongside other partners, made a powerful statement to the students. It demonstrated that our partnership extends far beyond financial contributions, reinforcing our collective commitment to their success.
The motivating speeches delivered by Rose Scott (NPR), Brian Stewart (Google), and Mustafa Erwa (PayPal) during the Opening Ceremony instilled confidence and inspiration in the students as they embarked on their college journeys and their paths with CodeHouse.
As we celebrate the achievements of Cohort 4, we look forward to continuing our mission of creating a more diverse and inclusive tech industry. Congratulations to all the CodeHouse Scholars for their dedication and hard work in completing the Summer Bridge Program!
