    October 2, 2024

Dr. Cynthia Hewitt, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for Comparative Labor Studies (ICLS) at Morehouse College,  has joined On Topic for a thought-provoking conversation discussing the crucial role of equitable labor treatment in driving a healthy economy.

Watch the video to hear Dr. Hewitt's insights on the importance of fair labor practices and their impact on building a more just society.

Founded in 2017, ICLS was created to provide Morehouse graduates with pathways into social justice leadership, research, and community organizing. Dr. Hewitt shares how the institute integrates labor studies into the curriculum, focusing on the historical contributions of Black workers in the civil rights movement and the broader American labor landscape.

By equipping students with a 21st-century perspective on sustainable and meaningful work for African Americans and all workers, ICLS empowers the next generation to champion equity in the workforce.
