    Dr. Joshua J. Joseph ’03 Appointed to Leadership Role Advancing Community-Centered Research at Ohio State

    Dr. Joshua J. Joseph ’03, M.D., MPH, FAHA, ASCI has been appointed to partner with leadership of The Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CTSI), where he will help drive strategic initiatives and strengthen collaborations with state and local government. In this role, Dr. Joseph will play a key part in advancing CTSI’s mission to translate scientific discovery into meaningful, community-oriented health impact.

    Concurrent with this appointment, Dr. Joseph serves as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine with tenure and Endowed Professor for Research in Internal Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. His academic leadership reflects a career dedicated to integrating clinical excellence, research innovation, and community engagement.

    Prior to joining Ohio State, Dr. Joseph founded and directed the Yale Primary Care Center Weight Management and Wellness Clinic and served as an Instructor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. His work at Yale laid the foundation for a nationally recognized research portfolio focused on improving outcomes for patients disproportionately affected by chronic disease.

    A highly respected endocrinologist, Dr. Joseph specializes in diabetes prevention and chronic disease management through community-based interventions. His research has attracted more than $45 million in funding from leading institutions including the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

    Dr. Joseph currently leads a $15 million national research initiative within the American Heart Association’s Strategically Focused Research Network on Cardiovascular Kidney Metabolic Syndrome in Women. The project seeks to better understand why women face increased risk due to unique life stages and biological and social factors, with the goal of informing more equitable prevention and treatment strategies.

    Dr. Joseph’s appointment underscores the global impact of Morehouse alumni who combine scholarship, service, and leadership to address some of the most pressing health challenges of our time. His work continues to reflect the College’s tradition of producing leaders committed to improving lives and advancing health equity through research and community partnership.
