Dr. Kevin Dancy 94' is a Strong voice in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry

    June 4, 2025

"Dr. Kevin Dancy’s journey to becoming a leading restorative and cosmetic dentist is a testament to the power of community, resilience, and passion. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, he grew up surrounded by a culture of Black excellence that shaped his drive to give back. “Being in Atlanta in the ’70s and ’80s, you experienced the mecca of Black excellence,” Dr. Dancy recalls. “I was raised by a community of strong, intelligent people who instilled Black excellence in me throughout my life.”ea24ec71ff71b03a51367e53

"With a natural curiosity for science and a fascination with orthodontics, Dr. Dancy pursued a biology degree at Morehouse College before earning his dental degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. “Meharry afforded me the opportunity to learn the craft of dentistry from people who looked like me,” he says, crediting his HBCU experience for shaping both his technical expertise and his sense of purpose.

"Determined to refine his skills further, Dr. Dancy enrolled in the master’s program in restorative dentistry at the University of Michigan, where he deepened his passion for creating beautiful, functional smiles. His journey wasn’t without its challenges, but he remained steadfast in his vision. “If it had not been for the environment I grew up in, the HBCUs I attended, and the mentors I had, I think my story would have been a lot different,” he reflects.

“Growing up as a Black man, you are made aware of the fact that you always have to be better, more resilient, and persevere.” - Meharry.edu
