Dr. Morris’s recognition carries special significance: she is truly homegrown. A product of DeKalb County Schools, she earned her undergraduate degree from Clark Atlanta University and her graduate degrees from Emory University, grounding her scientific excellence in the Atlanta metropolitan region she continues to serve. She is K–12 certified in Science (grades 6–12) by the State of Georgia and has taught across multiple educational contexts, including DeKalb County Schools, Henry County Schools, Spelman College, and Morehouse College.

A biomolecular chemist by training and a nationally recognized leader in extended reality, artificial intelligence, and immersive learning, Dr. Morris is best known for pioneering the world’s first Metaversity at Morehouse College. Her work bridges cutting-edge technology with culturally responsive pedagogy, expanding access to STEM education for K–12 students, college learners, educators, and historically underrepresented communities.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Morris remains deeply rooted in the community she serves. She makes her home in McDonough, Georgia, with her husband and five sons, continuing a legacy of education, service, and innovation that reflects the very spirit of the Science Lives Here exhibit.

Dr. Morris earned this recognition through a career defined by consistency, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to making science accessible and meaningful. She volunteers countless hours in local schools and community spaces, ensuring that young people, particularly those historically overlooked, can see, touch, and imagine themselves in STEM.

One of her most visible initiatives is the Atlanta Science Festival Showcase at Morehouse College, where she introduces children to the Metaverse, transforming futuristic technology into joyful, tangible learning experiences. Globally, she has helped onboard more than 200 Metaversities worldwide, extending immersive education far beyond Atlanta. Yet she never hoards innovation. She trains educators, institutions, and systems to implement emerging technologies ethically, inclusively, and effectively.

As a K–16 educator, Dr. Morris bridges the full learning continuum. She invests her time, talent, and intellectual capital into STEM education early, often, and with care, with special attention to neurodivergent and differently abled learners. Her Super Science Saturday workshops and advocacy for accessibility standards highlight her commitment to inclusive excellence.

Dr. Morris’s service extends well beyond her home institutions. She actively collaborates with STEM organizations locally, nationally, and globally, including STEM Women Atlanta, STEM NOLA, KIPP Schools, Jack and Jill of America, and others, always centering equity, access, and excellence.

If Dr. Morris is the blueprint, it is because her path is clear: serve locally, think globally, share relentlessly, advocate boldly, and never forget who the work is for. Science lives where she lives because she makes sure it does.
