Meet Jamari Story, a freshman English major from Champaign, Illinois, who is beginning his collegiate journey at Morehouse College as a first generation college student. Inspired by Dr. Irvin Hunt, a University of Illinois professor and Morehouse College alumnus, Jamari decided to follow in his footsteps and pursue an English degree.
Jamari's passion for uplifting communities and advocating for diversity began in high school, where he founded the first People of Color club. This club focused on supporting and empowering POC in both the school and the Champaign/Urbana community through fundraising efforts and proactive discussions on important social issues.
At Morehouse, Jamari plans to continue his dedication to writing and storytelling through his involvement with the Maroon Tiger, the college's student-run newspaper. He is eager to contribute his voice and perspectives to the publication, enriching the campus community with his unique insights and experiences.
Jamari's journey is a testament to the impact of mentorship and the power of education in transforming lives. As he embarks on this new chapter at Morehouse, he carries with him the legacy of those who have inspired him and the drive to make a difference through his words and actions.
We are excited to see the contributions Jamari will make to the Morehouse community and beyond.
Welcome, to the House Jamari!
