_morehouse1867--Freshman-Profile-JLawJosiah Lawson ’28 is a freshman computer science major from Stone Mountain, Georgia, carrying forward the legacy of being a third-generation Morehouse Man. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the traditions of Morehouse, with his father, brother, and grandfather all being alumni, Josiah has always been inspired by the extraordinary accomplishments of Morehouse men across the globe.

In high school, Josiah excelled both academically and athletically. As a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society, he demonstrated a strong commitment to his studies. On the basketball court, he was a four-year starter, earning the title of 5A South Player of the Year. With over 1,500 career points and 700 rebounds, Josiah secured his place among the top 20 all-time leading scorers in Dekalb County. His remarkable achievements on the court earned him a spot on the Maroon Tiger Basketball Team, where he aims to continue his legacy of excellence.

Josiah's ambitions extend beyond basketball. He aspires to become a professional player while also founding a tech startup that merges his passion for computer science with innovative business solutions. Additionally, he has an interest in obtaining a Juris Doctorate in patent law, a path that aligns with his dedication to bridging technology and legal expertise.

At Morehouse, Josiah is eager to immerse himself in campus life, with interests in the Student Government Association, computer science clubs, and the Morehouse Business Association. In his first year, he is determined to become a Basketball National Champion, be recognized as Player of the Year, and maintain a 4.0 GPA.

Josiah draws inspiration from his parents, who have instilled in him the values of hard work, faith, and perseverance. He also looks up to his grandfather, George G. Andrews, a Morehouse alumnus and founder of Capital City Bank and Trust Company, one of the largest and fastest-growing African American banks in America. This legacy of leadership and community impact drives Josiah's ambition to grow and mature as a black man surrounded by like-minded peers at Morehouse College, where he looks forward to making lasting contributions both on and off the court.

    Welcome to The House Josiah!
