Leadership Lecture Series Town Hall Conversation To Be Held Today

    May 3, 2018

Morehouse College will host a Town Hall Conversation with executives from Starbucks at 3:45 p.m. today as part of the College's Leadership Lecture Series.

The panel discussion on the role and responsibility of a company in fostering diversity, inclusion, and opportunity will be held at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center, 900 West End Ave. S.W., Atlanta. The event will be moderated by Morehouse College Professor of Psychology and Associate Provost, David Wall Rice. Starbucks Founder and Executive Chairman, Howard Schultz, and Rosalind Brewer, the corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, will be panelists at the Town Hall Conversation.

"Of course, Morehouse continues to place as central freedom work that must take place in this country,” commented Rice.  "We respect Mr. Schultz and Ms. Brewer for engaging this very special College community as part of that work at such a delicate time. The dialogue and the actions attached provide us a unique opportunity to lead and to serve beyond the rhetorical.”

Morehouse's Leadership Lecture Series is an opportunity for students to learn about business operations from some of the nation's top executives. The Town Hall Conversation is open to students, staff, and faculty of the Atlanta University Center.

“We would like to thank the executives at Starbucks for agreeing to come to Morehouse College for this important discussion,”said David A. Thomas, President of Morehouse College. “Morehouse College is an international center for thought-provoking discussion and professional training on issues involving race and social justice.”

The Town Hall will be live-streamed on Morehouse.tv. To register, visit https://bit.ly/2jp5ggM.
