Morehouse Men won at least 14 races throughout the country on Election Day 2018.
Alumni in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C. were either elected or re-elected in races held on November 6, 2018.

Sanford Bishop '68
Bishop was re-elected as the Congressman from Georgia's 2nd Congressional District. Bishop has served in the House of Representatives since 1993. He serves on the House Committee on Appropriations as well as the House Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administrations and Related Agencies and he is the ranking member on the House Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies.
Roger Bruce '75
Bruce was re-elected to the Georgia House of Representatives, 61st District. Bruce has served in the Georgia House since 2002, where he is a member of following committees: Game, Fish & Parks, Human Relations & Aging, Judiciary and Small Business Development.
Art Haywood '79
Haywood was re-elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate, where he serves the citizens of the 4th District. Haywood is an accomplished attorney who has served in the Pennsylvania State Senate since 2015. Haywood is a former Cheltenham Township (PA) Commissioner and served as the President of the Board of Commissioners.
Kirk Hatcher '88
Hatcher was elected to represent House District 78 in the Alabama House of Representatives. Hatcher is an educator, and he founded Success Roundtable 2001, Inc., whose mission was to achieve acceptable degrees of economic parity in the African American community—through leadership roles on local bank boards and executive committees, as well as management appointments.
Cedric Richmond '95
Richmond was re-elected as the Congressman from Louisiana's 2nd Congressional District. Richmond has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2011, and is the current Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. He serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on the Judiciary. An outstanding baseball player, Richmond is universally regarded as the best baseball player in Congress. He is undefeated as the starting pitcher in the annual Congressional Baseball Game, and the Democrats haven't lost since he took office in 2011.
Torrance Harvey '97
Harvey was elected Mayor of Newburgh, NY. Harvey was first elected to an At-Large seat to the Newburgh, NY City Council in 2015. Harvey has enjoyed a 20-year teaching career in the History Department at Newburgh Free Academy.
El-Mahdi Holly '98
Holly was elected as the representative for the Georgia House of Representatives District 111. Holly is an educator at Eagles Landing Middle School and serves as the Executive Director of Veterans Lead, with its mission of working with organizations to help improve the lives of America's returning military veterans.
Steven Reed '98
Reed was re-elected as a Probate Court of Montgomery County, AL. Judge Reed has served on the Probate Court since 2012. Prior to the bench, Judge Reed started a government relations firm to advocate issues before the Alabama legislature. He also served as Senior Aide to Alabama Lt. Governor Jim Folsom, Jr.
Jesse Chism '03
Chism was elected as a State Representative for District 85 to the Tennessee House of Representatives. He is the president of Chism Consulting, which fights blight by purchasing houses to renovate in an effort to provide affordable housing. Chism served on the Shelby County Democratic executive committee as chairman for the 75-11 precinct of district 85.
Ebbon Allen '04
Allen was re-elected to Washington, D.C.'s Advisory Neighborhood Committee Seat 7E03. Allen is an educator and a very active and vocal community organizer. He founded the Black Kings That Read Literacy Initiative and has been outspoken about neighborhood safety and gun violence awareness in Washington, D.C.
Jeremy Brown '06
Brown was elected Justice of the Peace in Harris County, TX, Precinct 7, Post 1. Brown was the District Director/Legal Counsel to Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis, and later served as an Advisor on the Harris County Commission.
Matthew Pigatt '09
Pigatt was elected Mayor of Opa-locka, FL. Pigatt became the youngest elected official in South Florida in 2016 as Commissioner for the City of Opa-locka. He chairs the 100 Black Men of South Florida Leadership Academy and is the founder of the annual South Florida HBCU Picnic as well as the founder of the Sankofa Cypher.
Lincoln Barnett '11
Barnett was elected Mayor of Hughes, AR. Barnett is the Delta Regional Director of the Rural Community Alliance, and is a Youth Minister & Counselor at the Metropolitan Baptist Church of Memphis.
Christopher Preston '11
Preston was re-elected to the At-Large, Position 2 post on the City Council of Missouri City, TX. Preston has served on City Council since 2014. His current City Council Committee memberships include: Economic Development, High-Performance Organization, and Community Development Advisory.
