    Justin Miller '99 Honored with the 2024 A.T. Walden Outstanding Lawyer Award

    Morehouse College is proud to celebrate Attorney Justin Miller, Class of 1999, for receiving the prestigious 2024 A.T. Walden Outstanding Lawyer Award from the Gate City Bar Association. This honor recognizes Miller’s exceptional contributions to the legal field and his unwavering commitment to justice and civil rights.

In 1964, Walden became the first Black municipal judge in Georgia since Reconstruction, leaving an indelible mark on the state’s legal history. Miller’s career exemplifies Walden’s enduring legacy of fighting for equality and justice.

    As a partner at Stewart Miller Simmons Trial Attorneys, Justin Miller has dedicated his career to advocating for those in need. He has secured millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients, demonstrating a profound commitment to justice. His achievements include:

    • $10 Million Verdict for Negligent Security: In 2019, Miller led a trial team to victory against an apartment complex, holding them accountable for inadequate security measures.

    • Counsel for the Family of George Floyd: Miller played a pivotal role in securing a historic $27 million settlement against the City of Minneapolis and the officers responsible for George Floyd’s murder.

    • Legal Advocate for Rayshard Brooks’ Family: Representing the family of Rayshard Brooks, who was killed by police in Atlanta, Miller continues his fight for accountability and justice.

    • Member of the Legal Team for Ahmaud Arbery’s Family: Miller contributed to the team representing the family of Ahmaud Arbery, whose murder while jogging in Brunswick, Georgia, galvanized the nation.

    After graduating from Morehouse College, Miller earned his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. His commitment to service and justice extends beyond the courtroom. Miller is an active member of the Gate City Bar Association, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and National Bar Association. Also, as a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., he exemplifies the spirit of brotherhood and community uplift.
