Meet the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Yamir Richmond '26

Yamir Richmond ’26 is a mathematics graduate with a minor in data science from Chantilly, Virginia. As Valedictorian of the Class of 2026, Yamir earned the College’s highest academic distinction through exceptional achievement in advanced mathematics coursework, research, and scholarly engagement.
Throughout his time at Morehouse, he pursued rigorous academic opportunities through programs at Georgetown University and the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute while completing research and internship experiences at Georgia State University and the University of California, Berkeley.
A dedicated scholar and mentor, Yamir also served as a mathematics tutor, helping fellow students navigate challenging coursework while fostering a culture of academic excellence. His commitment to scholarship is reflected through his involvement as an SSS-STEM Scholar and membership in Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Mu Epsilon, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
Beyond the classroom, Yamir is an accomplished musician and flutist whose Morehouse experience was shaped by intellectual curiosity, discipline, and a passion for continuous learning. He credits the Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative as a transformative part of his journey, providing the support, resources, and research opportunities that helped prepare him for advanced study.
Now a Morehouse alumnus, Yamir leaves The House with a legacy defined by academic excellence, service, and a commitment to expanding opportunities for others. As he considers graduate studies and a future in actuarial science, he carries forward the ideals of scholarship and leadership that define the Morehouse tradition.
