Morehouse College Ranked Among Top 50 U.S. Film Schools in 2024

    December 2, 2024

Morehouse College has once again secured its place among the nation's elite film schools, earning the #42 spot on TheWrap’s 2024 Top 50 U.S. Film Schools. This recognition is a testament to the growing impact of Morehouse’s Cinema, Television & Emerging Media Studies (CTEMS) program and the College’s enduring commitment to cultivating the next generation of storytellers and creators.

Morehouse stands tall as one of three Georgia institutions celebrated on this prestigious list, joining the Savannah College of Art and Design (#38) and the University of Georgia (#44). Georgia’s burgeoning influence in the film industry is undeniable, with its thriving production hub providing fertile ground for creative education and professional opportunities.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Stephane Dunn, the CTEMS program continues to break barriers and elevate voices often underrepresented in the media landscape. Reflecting on the recognition, Dr. Dunn shared, “While Morehouse College does not identify itself as the ‘Harvard’ of HBCUs given its proud, unique institutional legacy and global impact, the Morehouse College Cinema, Television & Emerging Media Studies (CTEMS) Department is honored and very thankful to again be recognized by TheWrap as one of the top college film programs in 2024; kudos to our current CTEMS majors and impressive alums.”

Morehouse’s CTEMS program is not only shaping the future of Black storytelling but also creating a platform where students can thrive in all facets of media production, from writing and directing to editing and producing. The department boasts a curriculum that emphasizes both technical expertise and critical thinking, empowering our Atlanta University students to tell impactful stories that resonate across cultures.

This recognition is not just a win for Morehouse but for the broader HBCU community and Georgia’s dynamic role in the global media landscape. For aspiring filmmakers and storytellers, Morehouse College remains a beacon of opportunity and innovation.
