My Research with The United States Air Force

    November 3, 2020

The United States Air Force is dedicated to research and committed to giving back to the academic community by providing opportunities for civilian full-time science, mathematics, and engineering faculty at U.S. colleges and universities to conduct on-site research at participating Air Force research facilities. Faculty members from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are especially encouraged to participate.

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) is one of the participating facilities.  USAFA has twenty-three research centers grouped by the mission which includes Air, Warfighter Support, Space, Cyber, Strategic Studies and Readiness.  Readiness has four centers:

    • Eisenhower Center for Space and Defense Studies
    • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
    • Human Performance Lab
    • Center for Physics Education Research (CPER)

I have participated in the Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (SFFP) in the Center for Physics Education Research (CPER).  The title of my project is “Improving Student Success in Introductory Physics Courses at the U.S. Air Force (USAFA)”.  A short video and poster of my project, which I presented at the United States Air Force Academy Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Forum 2020, is located at https://2020usafasotlforum.azurewebsites.net/details/15.
