Quincy Box '25 has emerged as a shining example of determination, intellect, and ambition. A graduating senior majoring in Business Marketing with minors in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Spanish, Quincy has made waves not only on campus but on the national stage as well. Recently, Quincy was named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, one of the most prestigious academic honors in the world.
This distinction placed him among an elite group of scholars who have demonstrated exceptional academic excellence, leadership, and a vision for global impact. While he was not ultimately selected, being the only finalist from Morehouse College and the Atlanta University Center (AUC) this year is a monumental achievement in itself.
The Rhodes Scholarship offers a fully funded opportunity to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford. Quincy’s journey through the rigorous application process was both challenging and rewarding. "It taught me a lot about myself, the amount of rigor required for high-level applications, and what it means to compete on a national stage," he reflects. "Being chosen as a finalist was still a prestigious honor, and I am proud to be among the small group of individuals who made it this far."
Quincy’s success did not happen overnight. It was the result of years of dedication, strategic planning, and an unyielding drive to push beyond his comfort zone. From the outset of his Morehouse experience, he committed himself to academic excellence while actively seeking opportunities to apply his learning in real-world scenarios.
His passion for entrepreneurship led him to engage in pitch competitions, sharpening his ability to solve complex problems and present innovative ideas. This drive also led to the creation of his startup, Care On Demand, an initiative focused on increasing access to mental health resources. By merging business acumen with social impact, Quincy exemplifies the spirit of a Morehouse Man—one who leads, innovates, and uplifts his community.
"This achievement is not just about me—it represents the excellence and potential of students from Morehouse and HBCUs as a whole," Quincy emphasizes. "I hope that my journey will inspire other students to believe that they, too, can compete at the highest levels and make an impact on a global scale."
One of the key components of Quincy’s success has been the unwavering support from Morehouse College. "I could not have done this alone," he acknowledges. "The institution has played a pivotal role in my growth, providing mentorship, encouragement, and access to opportunities that have prepared me for this moment."
Among the many mentors who have guided him, Dr. Creque stands out as a significant influence. "She has been instrumental in helping me navigate this journey, and I truly appreciate the time and effort she has invested in me," Quincy shares. Such mentorship and support systems underscore the strength of Morehouse’s commitment to fostering leaders who leave a lasting impact.
"I gained invaluable experience and insight that will serve me in future endeavors," he says confidently. "This journey has only just begun."
Quincy hopes his story serves as motivation for other students, particularly those from HBCUs, to dream big and pursue opportunities that may seem out of reach. "If I can make it this far, so can they," he affirms. "I want students to know that they belong in these spaces and that they, too, can achieve greatness."
Quincy Box’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, vision, and the enduring impact of a Morehouse education. As he steps into the next chapter of his life, one thing is certain: he will continue to inspire, lead, and make a difference wherever he goes.
