Rev. Bowen brings a rare combination of pastoral heart, administrative excellence, and prophetic vision,” said PNBC President Dr. David Peoples. “At this critical moment in our nation and our church, his leadership will strengthen our Convention and expand our witness for justice and faith in action.

Founded in 1961 as the spiritual home of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. '48 and the freedom-faith movement, PNBC has long served as a prophetic voice for justice and human dignity. As General Secretary, Rev. Bowen will help guide the denomination’s administrative vision, deepen its national impact, and equip congregations to respond to today’s moral challenges.

Rev. Bowen most recently served as Senior Advisor for Faith Engagement in the White House Office of Public Engagement, where he led national outreach to faith communities and advised on issues at the intersection of faith and public policy. He previously led both the Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs and the Mayor’s Office on African American Affairs in Washington, D.C., and currently serves as Interim Assistant Pastor and Earl L. Harrison Minister of Social Justice at Shiloh Baptist Church.

Rev. Bowen’s appointment marks a new chapter for PNBC as the Convention continues mobilizing faith communities in the pursuit of justice, equity, and civic renewal.
