    February 21, 2025

On February 13th, Morehouse College, in collaboration with the Morehouse College Center for Excellence in Education (MCEE) and Edflix Productions, proudly premiered Belonging Beyond Brown in the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center. This powerful documentary explores the question: What does belonging mean for Black students in education when their models of intellect are replaced?KeyArt-4x5.jpg

Belonging Beyond Brown delves into the emotional stories of displacement, resilience, and the enduring quest for justice experienced by Black educators, students, and their communities before and after the historic 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling. Through intimate interviews and historical footage, the film captures the personal struggles and triumphs of those who navigated the challenges of desegregation.

The documentary highlights the emotional toll of forced integration while celebrating the strength and persistence of Black communities. By drawing parallels between the past and present, Belonging Beyond Brown reveals how Brown’s legacy continues to shape today’s fight for racial justice and equitable education—making these stories as relevant now as they were decades ago.
