Morehouse College Center for Excellence in Education hosts exclusive screening for Ava DuVernay's film 'Origin'

    April 1, 2024

Earlier this year, in collaboration with Array, the Morehouse College Center for Excellence in Education (MCEE) treated Morehouse and Spelman students and staff to an exclusive screening of Ava DuVernay's acclaimed film "Origin". Adapted from Isabel Wilkerson's bestselling book "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents," the screening left attendees enlightened, moved, and inspired to embrace the film's powerful message.

The following day, Ava joined students from both institutions for an intimate conversation, delving into the film's important themes and answering questions about her artistic vision, the adaptation process from book to film, and the intersection of education and entertainment. She also discussed the challenges and rewards of independent filmmaking, providing valuable insights into her creative process.

As "Origin" continues to resonate with audiences, we urge everyone to experience this extraordinary work of art, which captures life in its most authentic, compelling, and beautiful forms.
