Morehouse College's Center for Broadening Participation in Computing will be the host institution for the Black Issues in Computing Education (BICE) Symposium, the nation’s premier convening focused on addressing the systemic challenges and opportunities impacting Black scholars, students, and professionals in computing fields.
This significant development affirms the Centers national leadership in advancing equity, inclusion, and opportunity across computing education and research. As host, the Center will provide critical infrastructure and strategic guidance to support BICE’s continued growth, innovation, and community-building.
The alignment between BICE’s mission and Center for Broadening Participation in Computing’s vision makes this partnership a natural evolution. Both are committed to dismantling barriers in tech education, expanding access to computing pathways, and centering the lived experiences of Black students and faculty in postsecondary institutions.
The announcement comes as excitement builds for BICE 2025, taking place October 8–10, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Themed “Computing Education in the Age of AI,” the symposium will spotlight how emerging technologies intersect with equity, ethics, and education for Black students in computing.
Attendees can expect a robust experience that uplifts scholarship, fosters mentorship, and inspires actionable change.
