Morehouse Students Jordan Stewart and Lesh'In Edwards Represent Georgia at Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, D.C.

    September 24, 2024

Recently, Morehouse College had the distinct honor of being represented by two remarkable students, Jordan Stewart and Lesh'In Edwards, at the annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) events in Washington, D.C. Both students were selected to represent the state of Georgia and Morehouse College as part of a quartet of HBCU students, performing during the prestigious gathering. Notably, Morehouse was the only institution to have two representatives in this group.

thumbnail_IMG_1811The CBCF's decision to include Jordan and Lesh'In was especially significant this year, as they performed in honor of Georgia Congresswoman Lucy McBath, one of the Co-Chairs of the Foundation. Out of a pool of male HBCU students, these two talented young men were handpicked, showcasing not only their individual talents but also the excellence of Morehouse's broader legacy of leadership, scholarship, and service.

In addition to their stellar performance, Jordan and Lesh'In had the opportunity to network with some of the most influential Black leaders in the country. They were able to meet with powerhouse figures such as Representatives Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Lucy McBath, Lisa Blunt Rochester, and Governor Wes Moore of Maryland, who is also an honorary Morehouse brother. These meaningful interactions provided them a glimpse into the world of Black political leadership and the importance of advocacy for the community.

One of the highlights of their trip came when they met Sherri Shepherd, the co-host of the CBCF's Phoenix Awards and star of her own talk show, Sherri. She was so impressed by their performance that she not only took pictures with them but also expressed her desire to give them a shoutout on her show. Her support speaks to the lasting impression Jordan and Lesh'In made with their talents and professionalism.

Jordan Stewart and Lesh'In Edwards continue to exemplify what it means to be Men of Morehouse. Their performance and engagement at the CBCF not only elevated Morehouse College but also reflected the caliber of students that the institution continues to produce.

    Congratulations Jordan and Lesh'In!
