Dr. Muhsinah Morris to Speak at Chronicle of Higher Education’s Festival on “The Emerging AI University"
August 27, 2025Written by: Morehouse College
Dr. Muhsinah Morris, Director of Morehouse Metaverse Programs, will join the Chronicle of Higher Education’s Chronicle Festival as part of its distinguished speaker lineup, taking place virtually September 16–18, 2025. The festival’s theme, Innovation Amidst Uncertainty, will bring together thought leaders from across the academy to discuss how higher education can adapt to rapid change.
Dr. Morris will participate in a roundtable discussion on “The Emerging AI University” on September 17 from 3:20–4:10 p.m. ET, a session inspired by Scott Latham’s recent Chronicle article, “Are You Ready for the AI University?” The conversation will explore the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping every aspect of higher education—from enrollment and retention strategies to student mental health, financial forecasting, and the classroom experience itself.
As Latham notes, AI is poised to become a differentiator in higher education, creating an inevitable divide between resource-rich institutions and those slower to adapt. The session will examine the opportunities and challenges this transformation presents, moving beyond narrow debates over academic ethics to consider the broader implications of AI on pedagogy, research, and student life.
Dr. Morris’s participation reflects Morehouse College’s leadership in advancing innovative learning models and preparing students for a future shaped by emerging technologies. Her work directing Morehouse Metaverse Programs—the first of its kind at an HBCU—has already positioned the College as a pioneer in immersive, technology-driven education.
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to register for the free virtual event at the Chronicle Festival website: Register here.
