Exploring Global Business: Morehouse Students Embark on a Transformative Study Abroad Experience in Barcelona
March 14, 2025Written by: Morehouse College
Morehouse College students recently returned from an enriching three-week study abroad program in Barcelona, where they explored the intersection of international business and cultural immersion. Guided by Dr. Gabriela Piscopo, Assistant Professor of Marketing & International Business, and with support from the Morehouse College Office of International Education, this program provided students with invaluable opportunities to broaden their perspectives and enhance their global competencies.
During their time abroad, students visited Bcombinator, a prominent venture capital firm, to gain firsthand insights into startup ecosystems and investment strategies. Engaging with industry professionals allowed them to understand international business practices and explore potential career pathways on a global scale.
Beyond the business sphere, students immersed themselves in Spanish culture — from exploring historic landmarks to participating in local traditions. Experiences like the Castell, a centuries-old human tower tradition, deepened their appreciation for Spain’s vibrant heritage and community values.
Reflecting on the experience, senior Langston Jackson shared, "As a Spanish major, this trip also allowed me to practice my language skills while gaining invaluable insights into international business. It was truly a holistic learning experience that combined my academic interests with real-world exposure."
The fusion of business education with cultural exploration empowered students to navigate the complexities of an interconnected world while fostering personal growth and resilience.
Thank you to Dr. Gabriela Piscopo for her leadership and mentorship and to the Office of International Education for organizing this transformative program. The experiences and knowledge gained in Barcelona will undoubtedly shape the future endeavors of Morehouse students as they continue to lead with vision and purpose on the global stage.
