    Morehouse Scholars Excel with Prestigious Study Abroad Awards

    The Office of International Education (OIE) has announced the outstanding achievements of Morehouse students who have earned prestigious awards to support their global academic journeys.

    Taahir Abdul-Basit 27' has been named a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar, while Troy Boxton Jr. 26' received the Gilman-McCain Scholarship. These awards provide critical funding to support their upcoming semesters abroad, enabling them to broaden their perspectives and deepen their academic pursuits. The Gilman Scholarship program is specifically designed to encourage Pell-eligible students to explore international study opportunities, reinforcing the value of global education as a transformative experience.

    Additionally, Mouhamadou Kane 28' and Zackary Harris 27' were selected for the esteemed Frederick Douglass-Daniel O’Connell Global Internship program. This fully funded, eight-week summer program in Dublin, Ireland, offered through CIEE, provides invaluable cultural immersion and hands-on international work experience. Their selection marks the third time Morehouse students have been chosen for this distinguished opportunity, reflecting the strength of the College’s scholars on the global stage.

    These accomplishments exemplify the drive, resilience, and academic excellence that define Morehouse students. As they prepare to embark on their journeys, they carry forward the College’s legacy of leadership, scholarship, and service across the world.
