Three distinguished Morehouse College graduates David “Dos Dias” Bishop ’16, Saul Williams ’94, and PJ Morton ’03 have earned Grammy nominations for their outstanding work in music and the arts this year, demonstrating the broad and enduring impact of Morehouse talent across creative industries.
Bishop was nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Song for his work as a producer and engineer on "Heart of A Woman" performed by Summer Walker.
Williams is nominated for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for "Saul Williams Meets Carlos Ñino and Friends at Treepeople".
Singer, songwriter, producer, and longtime keyboardist for Maroon 5, PJ Morton ’03 earned two Grammy nominations this year for his recent work. “Amazing,” his collaboration with Darrel Walls, was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song, and his album Heart of Mine received a nomination for Best Gospel Album.

Bishop is acclaimed for his prowess as a producer, Grammy Award-winner, and multi-platinum recording and mixing engineer in the music industry. Bishop's journey into the realm of audio is fueled by an unwavering passion for music, and an innate curiosity for its technical intricacies.
While at Morehouse, Bishop's musical talents led him down the path of DJing, a transformative experience that broadened his horizons, and opened doors to a multitude of opportunities within the vibrant Metro-Atlanta music scene. As he spun records in premier venues, Bishop's talent caught the attention of industry luminaries, propelling him into the realm of recording and mixing engineering.
Today, David "Dos Dias" Bishop is influential in the industry, revered for his collaborations with some of Hip-Hop and R&B's most iconic figures, including Young Nudy, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, 6LACK, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Usher, The Weeknd, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Summer Walker. Renowned for his unparalleled ability to sculpt distinctive sonic landscapes tailored to each artist's vision, Bishop elevates every project he touches. He is also currently a professor of Music Production and Audio Recording at Georgia State University.
Williams is a Writer, Musician, Poet, Director, and Actor who came into public attention with the release of the internationally acclaimed film Slam (dir. Marc Levin), which Saul co-wrote and starred in, introducing the world to the Slam Poetry movement, and winning Sundance’s Grand Jury Prize and the Cannes Camera D’Or, in 1998. Most recently, Williams played Jedidiah Moore in the 2025 hit film Sinners.
As an actor, Williams was a series regular as “Sivad” on the CW’s Girlfriends and has appeared in a handful of films including: K-Pax, Lackawanna Blues, New York, I Love You, and most recently the French-Senegalese Aujourd’hui–TEY (dir. Alain Gomis) which won 2013’s L’Etalon D’Or at FESPACO, where Saul was the first African-American to win Best Actor in the largest and oldest African film festival. TEY was also awarded The Prize of the City at The Venice Film Festival. In 2014, Saul made his Broadway debut as the lead in Broadway’s first hip-hop musical, Holler If Ya Hear Me, based on the lyrics and poetry of Tupac Shakur. He starred in the 2021 film Akilla’s Escape, for which his performance earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Actor. His Directorial Debut Neptune Frost premiered at Cannes 2021 and saw theatrical release in June 2022.
Williams has performed in over 30 countries and read his poetry at more than 300 universities, with invitations that have spanned from the White House, the Sydney Opera House, Lincoln Center, The Louvre, The Getty Center, Queen Elizabeth Hall, to villages, townships, community centers, and prisons across the world. He has published five books of poetry which have been translated into several languages.
As a musician, Williams has released six albums and toured or collaborated with dozens of artists including: Nas, Janelle Monae, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, The Roots, Mos Def, The Mars Volta, David Cross, Allen Ginsburg, Amiri Baraka, Gil Scott-Heron, Jose James, Arthur H, Camille, Ayo, TV On The Radio, System Of A Down, KRS ONE, DJ Krust, DJ Spooky, Cold Cut, Matisyahu, Blackalicious, K’naan, K-OS, and Erykah Badu.
PJ Morton continues to shine as one of the most versatile and acclaimed artists of his generation. Morton is widely known as the longtime keyboardist for Maroon 5, touring the world and contributing to the band’s signature sound. Yet his solo career has established him as a powerhouse in his own right. His music, rooted in soul, gospel, R&B, and pop, is celebrated for its warmth, emotional honesty, and sophisticated musicianship. Albums such as Gumbo and Paul have earned critical acclaim, with Gumbo earning two Grammy Awards and positioning Morton among the most respected artists working today.
Beyond his work as a performer, Morton is also a songwriter, producer, and author who has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Stevie Wonder, India.Arie, JoJo, Yebba, and Kirk Franklin. His independent label, Morton Records, reflects his commitment to artistic freedom and support for emerging talent.
