    Malik McRae '23 Wins 2022 National Barry Goldwater Scholarship

    Malik McRae, a junior Biology major from Silver Spring, MD was recently named a National Goldwater Scholarship recipient.

    The mission of the Goldwater Scholarship Program is to identify and support this Nation’s next generation of research leaders in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Goldwater Scholarship recipients receive a $7500 stipend for the duration of their college matriculation.

    McRae is the first Morehouse student to win the award in more than a decade, and his submission was directly supported by Academic Affairs and the Office of Sponsored Programs.

    His ultimate career goal is to earn an M.D./Ph.D. in the field of cancer biology, and to pursue a scientific career. He engaged in research exposure since his first year at Morehouse, having participated in the National Institutes of Health-based Morehouse RISE and MARC Programs and is currently pursuing research at Georgia Tech through the Petit Program. His research proposal revolved around work performed from a summer internship at Vanderbilt University involving immune response and antibiotic resistance.
