For more than 50 years, the LAA has served as a vital resource for Latinos across Georgia—offering everything from crisis intervention and immigration services to adult education, workforce development, and small business support. With a growing footprint beyond Buford Highway and into Gwinnett County and northwest Georgia, the LAA is a one-stop hub for opportunity, advancement, and community.

A proud Afro-Latino and first-generation college graduate, Alvarado was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His career has been anchored in the pursuit of social and economic justice, equity, and transformational leadership.

Before joining PSE, Alvarado served as Executive Vice President of External Affairs at Ohio River South, a top regional government relations firm, where he helped expand the company’s reach through strategic representation of Fortune 500s, nonprofits, local governments, and political leaders.

His extensive public sector experience includes key leadership roles in DeKalb County, where he served under two administrations as Senior Advisor to the CEO, Director of Legislative Affairs, Executive Director for Community and International Affairs, and Director of Keep DeKalb Beautiful.

Alvarado has also served as Policy Director for the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential, a Policy Analyst for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), and as a statewide civic engagement director for the NAACP in Georgia during the 2018 and 2020 election cycles.

With decades of experience in policy, advocacy, and grassroots mobilization, Alvarado continues to lead with purpose and impact—upholding the Morehouse tradition of leadership, service, and global citizenship.
