Meet Khumo Kumalo '28, a freshman political science major from Johannesburg, South Africa, who is embarking on his academic journey at Morehouse College. As an international student, Khumo was introduced to Morehouse through his father, Mandla Kumalo, an alumnus.
Khumo's passion for writing and language was ignited during his high school years, where he served as the captain of the South African debate team. This role allowed him to hone his skills in critical thinking, public speaking, and persuasive writing. His love for addressing social and political issues led him to establish the organization “Misunderstood.” Through this platform, Khumo wrote a compelling newsletter entitled “94 was Misunderstood,” which was published in the Mail and Guardian, one of South Africa's largest newspapers.
At Morehouse, Khumo plans to continue pursuing his passion for writing and debate. He aims to join the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Debate Team, where he can further develop his leadership skills and advocate for important issues.
Khumo’s journey from Johannesburg to Atlanta is a testament to his dedication and drive to make a meaningful impact through his words and actions. By bringing his unique international perspective to Morehouse, Khumo is poised to contribute significantly to the college community.
We are excited to see how Khumo will thrive and inspire others at Morehouse College.
Welcome, to the House Khumo!
