    February 21, 2025

Morehouse College was honored to participate in the most recent National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) Conference, held in Houston, Texas. Traveling with 23 incredible students—22 from Morehouse College and 1 from Spelman College, all majoring in physics or applied physics—was an inspiring experience that showcased the brilliance and dedication of the scholars.

At the conference, students engaged with cutting-edge research presentations, shared their own groundbreaking work, and networked with esteemed leaders in the field. We are especially proud to celebrate the achievements of Benjamin Bayliss, Malone Hemsley, and Chavier McDaniel, who received awards for their outstanding research presentations. Their success is a testament to their dedication and the bright futures that lie ahead for all our students.

This conference not only highlighted the importance of representation in physics but also reinforced the power of mentorship, collaboration, and resilience in the pursuit of academic and professional excellence.

A special congratulations to Dr. Thomas A. Searles on becoming NSBP President-elect. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to Dr. Rubina Malik for her professional development lecture series, which helped prepare our students for this outstanding event.

Morehouse College remains committed to fostering excellence in STEM, and we look forward to continuing our mission of empowering the next generation of Black physicists and applied physicists.
