The 6th Annual Morehouse College Human Rights Film Festival recently concluded with the world premiere of MOSES – 13 Steps, a documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Edwin C. Moses '78, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and recipient of the inaugural Dr. Edwin C. Moses Humanitarian Award. The film, which highlights his extraordinary achievements both on and off the track, was the first to receive the festival’s prestigious "Enlightened Lens – Documentary Feature Award," honoring films that offer unique perspectives and illuminate the positive aspects of humanity.

IMG_6282Dr. Moses’ life story is one of triumph both on and off the track. His athletic achievements, which include two Olympic Gold Medals and an astonishing 122 consecutive victories in the 400-meter hurdles, made him an international icon. However, MOSES – 13 Steps goes beyond his athletic prowess, offering a deep dive into his role as a champion for social and scientific change. Dr. Moses is renowned for his efforts in athlete advocacy, particularly through his leadership in the United States Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency, where he helped implement drug testing and promote fairness in sports.

At the festival, Dr. Moses was presented with the inaugural Dr. Edwin C. Moses Humanitarian Award, honoring his contributions to society through his relentless pursuit of justice and equality in sports and beyond. Whether breaking down racial and social barriers on the track or using his platform to advocate for clean sports and health equity, Dr. Moses’ legacy continues to inspire future generations.

The world premiere of MOSES – 13 Steps was an emotional tribute to a man who has lived a life of service and resilience. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance, and the film’s recognition with the Enlightened Lens award is a fitting tribute to his impact on the world.

Through his work, Dr. Edwin C. Moses exemplifies what it means to be a Morehouse Man—someone who not only excels individually but also lifts up those around him and paves the way for future leaders. The screening of MOSES – 13 Steps at Morehouse College’s Human Rights Film Festival ensures that his story will continue to inspire many generations to come.
