    May 13, 2022

2022 co-salutatorian Joshua Curry of Atlanta, Ga. graduates as the top scholar from the software engineering program and a full-academic scholarship recipient. While on campus, his was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, a CodeHouse Student Mentor, Karat Student Ambassador, Howard Thurman honors scholar, inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Society, a Culturally Relevant Computing Lab Undergraduate Researcher, member of the Japan Club, and a Microsoft TEALS volunteer.

“I came to Morehouse because they gave me the most money and allowed me to graduate debt free. However, I stayed for the people,” said Curry. “I have met some of my best friends here in the AUC and I’m eternally grateful for that. These are bonds that will last well after graduation. Not only are my peers amazing, but I’ve met some of the most genuine and caring professors here as well. There have been many, many bumps along the way, but the people make it all worth it.”

After graduation, in addition to seeking software engineering roles, Joshua plans to teach computer science at to young people to provide opportunity that he was not afforded until he moved to Atlanta from The Bahamas.

From Joshua’s perspective, being a “Morehouse Man” is about “being true to yourself and your community. It’s about remembering the people who helped you along your path. I think humility and general respect for others is an important aspect as well.”
