May 12, 2021Written by: Morehouse College
Gabriel Denard Cloud is a graduating Business Administration major hailing from Valdosta, Ga. He has been the recipient of several academic scholarships, including being a United Negro College Fund fellow and the 30th Martin Luther King, Jr. scholar. He currently serves as the 84th Vice President of the Student Government Association and was the 36th president of the Chapel Assistants Program, a New Student Orientation leader, and former Student Services intern for Dean Maurice Washington. After graduation, Gabriel will remain in Atlanta as a financial consultant for Ernst and Young.
“I have always had a passion for business and finance. I am a scholar who is intentional about providing solutions in business and developing leaders for success. Human capital development is the burning ember that ignites my passion for leadership and service. I hope to become a managing partner at the firm while assisting in financial community development, faith-based enrichment, and political organizing.”
His mother and grandmother raised Gabriel, but unfortunately, his grandmother passed away just before his high school graduation. He describes this time as “the worst pain” he could have ever felt, but her memory and prayers assisted him in completing every task placed in his way.
“The Morehouse experience can only be described as the creation of diamonds. Many of us come to this institution unpolished and unaware. Morehouse places us under much pressure to get the best out of us. Once that process is over, we are polished, poised, and professional leaders ready for the world.”
