ATLANTA, GA —David A. Thomas, Ph.D., president of Morehouse College, issued the following statement today in support of Dr. Lisa D. Cook’s nomination to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System:
“Morehouse College is proud to have played a role in the education of Dr. Lisa Cook, who added to our intellectual discourse while taking classes at Morehouse as a student at Spelman College,” said Dr. Thomas. “Throughout her career, she has personified excellence, and she has made invaluable contributions to the field of economics. Her work and research have elevated understanding of international markets, banking, and finance and provided insight needed for sustainable economic growth. Her deep scholarship and experience on a range of governing boards representing economic and financial institutions make her uniquely qualified to serve as a pivotal leader in developing macroeconomic policy for this nation.
I strongly support President Biden’s nomination of Dr. Cook to serve on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and encourage the Senate to quickly confirm her nomination in a manner consistent with her extraordinary qualifications. I am confident that her service will strengthen America’s economic competitiveness.
