Morehouse College Launches National Search for Director of Athletics

    May 31, 2023

Morehouse College announced the launch of a nationwide search for a new director of athletics as current director, Curtis Campbell, accepts an opportunity with Roanoke College beginning July 1. The search will be part of its ongoing commitment to providing top-tier athletic programs and opportunities for its student-athletes. During this transition, Phillip Wallace will serve as interim athletic director and continue building on the program's reputation of academic excellence both on and off the field.

Dr. David A. Thomas, president of Morehouse College, expressed his appreciation of outgoing director Curtis Campbell and his vision for the future of Morehouse athletics. "We are grateful for Mr. Campbell's active role in expanding scholarship opportunities and boosting academic achievement for our athletes during his tenure. We wish him success in his new role. Now, we focus on our search for candidates who share in our commitment to the holistic development of our young men - upholding our standard of academic excellence, social responsibility, and thoughtful leadership."

Morehouse College offers eight intercollegiate sports, including baseball, basketball, football, golf, tennis, track & field, cross country, and volleyball. In fall 2022, the College reopened its B.T. Harvey Stadium and the Edwin C. Moses Track & Field after multi-million-dollar renovations. In addition to campus upgrades, the College remains committed to developing its athletic programming for students and the community, including hosting seasonal training camps and conference championships.
