Recently, several members of the Morehouse College community recently traveled to Nassau, Bahamas, to participate in the International Black Men’s Empowerment Summit and a Bahamian Recruitment Fair, hosted by the Bahamas Chapter of the Morehouse College Alumni Association. Among the esteemed participants were Morehouse College President Dr. David Thomas, alumnus Bakari Sellers ’05, and Coach Christopher Doomes, along with other influential members of the Morehouse family. Through workshops, networking sessions, and dynamic discussions, attendees explored strategies to empower Black men globally while underscoring the life-changing opportunities provided by Morehouse College.

The summit served as a platform to highlight the significance of leadership rooted in service, integrity, and vision. Morehouse representatives spoke passionately about the College’s commitment to preparing young Black men to lead with excellence in every facet of society.

Central to the discussions was the enduring value of HBCUs in shaping leaders, innovators, and change agents. President Thomas articulated how institutions like Morehouse play a unique and critical role in cultivating environments where Black excellence is nurtured and celebrated.

Bakari Sellers, an author, attorney, and political commentator, emphasized the transformative power of a Morehouse education, sharing how the College shaped his journey and commitment to advocacy and public service.

The event was also a vital opportunity to connect with prospective students in the Bahamas, underscoring Morehouse’s global reach and dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion within its community. The recruitment fair provided a platform for young men in the Bahamas to envision themselves as future Morehouse Men, ready to embrace the College’s mission of leadership and service.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to the Bahamas Chapter of the Morehouse College Alumni Association for hosting such a meaningful event and to all participants who contributed to its success.
