The Morehouse College Moot Court Team has once again achieved an impressive victory at the Regional Competition hosted by the College of Wooster. For the second year in a row, the team delivered a standout performance that reflects the students’ commitment, preparation, and academic excellence.

This year’s results highlight the depth of talent across the program:
-
John McGee '28, political science major, and Jaila Hatch, Spelman College student, secured first place.
-
Isaiah Stephens '29, philosophy major, and Aidan Jones '27, journalism major, were the third highest ranked team.
-
Donovan Correll '28, political science major, and Jaylon Coleman '28 political science major, were the fifth highest ranked team.
With three Morehouse teams finishing in the top five, this year’s regional competition marks one of the strongest showings in the program’s history. All three teams will advance to the Pre-National Competition in Memphis on January 25th.
The team of Anthony Lott '29 and Kamren Anderson '29, also delivered a noteworthy performance by finishing in the Sweet Sixteen.
This year’s success is especially significant considering the team’s composition. Almost all seasoned moot court participants graduated last year, leaving only one returning mooter on the roster. The students competing this season are almost entirely new to moot court, making their achievement even more impressive.
Team members spent many late nights in Wheeler Hall refining their arguments, strengthening their oral advocacy skills, and learning the intricacies of case law. Their drive and discipline are evident in their results.
This accomplishment would not have been possible without the dedicated mentorship of Judge Winfield Murray, whose guidance and coaching played a central role in preparing the students for competition.
If you see any members of the Moot Court Team on campus, please congratulate them. Their hard work represents the best of Morehouse and has earned them an opportunity to continue competing at the Pre-National level in Memphis.
