MOREHOUSE TUSKEGEE CLASSIC 2023 PRESENTED BY THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM IS SET TO KICK OFF SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2023, AT THE HISTORIC LEGION FIELD

    September 11, 2023

Known as the longest-running NCAA Division II classic in the nation, the Morehouse Tuskegee Classic will take place Saturday, October 7th at Legion Field. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and kickoff will be at 7 p.m. CT. This HBCU classic is being presented by the City of Birmingham and will be televised on ESPN+.

This football classic began in 1902 as an entertainment event for the African - American civilian community and U.S. Army soldiers in the Columbus-Fort Benning, Ga., and Phenix City, Ala. area. Today, its primary purpose is to help raise funds for scholarships to help young men and women attend college. Many graduates of Tuskegee and Morehouse call the Magic City home. This will be the third year that the football classic will be held in the City of Birmingham. Morehouse College won the series in 2021 and Tuskegee University took home the victory in 2022. Tickets for the 2023 game are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting www.morehousetuskegeeclassic.com.

“I'm happy to be a proud graduate of Morehouse College, but I'm equally proud that my home city is hosting this incredible event for the third year in a row,” said Birmingham Mayor Randall L. Woodfin. “Historically Black Colleges and Universities have been an important piece of our city's legacy, so it's only right that we continue to celebrate these institutions and the impact they've made on the lives of fans, students and alumni.”
